Song and Agger and transfer news...

Song leaving would be terrible for Arsenal.

Agger leaving would be similarly detrirmental to Liverpool however he is injury prone so would compare that more to the RVP situation. RVP may be slightly more important to Arsenal than Agger is to Liverpool but both are first team (in first 11) players that are important to the team and injury prone. RVP clearly scored a huge number of goals last season and one could argue he had his break out season last year. It remains a question whether he will contine that this year. Unless Arsenal signs another top player after Carzola I do not think he considers staying.

Quote from article above on Man City's interest in Aggger: "The Anfield club considers the £22m that City paid to Everton for Joleon Lescott in 2009 as a benchmark figure on Agger, a player who would threaten the England international's first-team place at the Etihad Stadium, although could be interested in a cash-plus-player deal. Adam Johnson is a potential makeweight having found his chances limited under Roberto Mancini towards the end of last season."

Should LFC get £22M and or the equivalent value including Adam Johnson that could turn out to be a smart deal for Liverpool. We desperately need a winger, Coates and Wilson need playing time and Coates would potentially move up as first choice if that happens. I just worry about Carra getting too many games again especially based on pre-season. I think he should step out of playing and be primarily a coach at this point. Give him 5-10 games at most against weaker opposition in the cups primarily.

Should Agger go and we get Adam Johnson plus money that could potentially solve two problems. 1) get in a good right winger (cause I doubt Rodgers will use Glen Johnson there. 2) We could sign Ashley Williams (Swansea FC) for the remaining money we get from the Agger deal (depending on how much that is).

I wonder what Swansea values Williams at but cannot see it is more than £10M. Considering Adam Johnson's lack of minutes last season I think we could squeeze a good price out of City there as well.

Next few days will be interesting. Transfer news will be coming thick and fast up until the season starts and probably continue up until the transfer window closes on 1. Sept. Gaston Ramirez, Dempsey and others have been roumored to come. I think Dempsey is the most likely and prefer him to Sigursson. Your thoughts?

Is Williams as good as Agger? What do you think?

I think he nowhere near Agger in quality and I think we should save up for the likes of Simon Kjær and give Coates and Wilson a proper chance to impress at centre back. Surely would not hurt their values.

Bellamy leaving

I think it is time. He has lost some pace and is no longer good enough to start for a top 4 team. Therefore I think it is the right time to let him go.

One wonders how much money Rodgers has to spend. I understand the unwillingness to overpay for players and I think it is about time we start taking a stand considering where we are. Value for money is key going forward and I am glad we took a stand on the Sigursson deal with regards to wages but having said that there has to be a balance. Newcastle have clearly managed to strike that well between value and price for player.

Can we do the same?

I am getting more and more excited every day that the season nears.... countdown is on 11 days......
