Transder deadline summary for LFC by Andy Hunter @ guardian.

Personally I think it was sad to loose Mereiles as he is a great player, was a perfect partner to Luis Suarez and could fill quite a few positions. He was also mobile, quick and provided us with goals when we needed it last season.

He fitted in very quickly in the premier league and will likely only get better now that he has settled in the league.

Saying that he did submit a transfer request. Had Liverpool acted sooner and offered him an improved contract we would have managed to keep him I think.

Who knows though. That is one of the most frustrating things about being a fan. One does not know what happens behind the scenes. It is clear that things happen in the background all the time. Who knows but Cole and Aquilani could have ruined team morale at times when they did not get to play. They both seem like players that could potentially have succeeded at our club but one wonders if there is any point of keeping them when no-one is going to give them a prolonged run in the team. Babel was a bit of the same ordeal. We never knew if he could fulfill his potential cause he never got a proper run in the team.

Anyway, all in all a good transfer window despite letting Mereiles go. Well done to Comolli after a hectic few months and well done to FSG for backing Kenny in the transfer window.

Coates can be a replacement for Carra long term from the clips I have seen. Let's hope his promise comes true.

Midfield is a lot stronger although we could have done with keeping Raul. Now Spearing and Shelvey may actually get a game. Some would say that is not a bad thing.

We have got rid of a lot of deadwood. That is for sure.

Bellamy will nick a goal or two and is also mobile and play on the wing as well as being a credible option up front.

We brought in 16m through Ngog and Mereiles. We got a few duds out (degen and poulsen).

We never gave Aquilani a proper chance to shine and the same in my opinion is true for Cole. Saying that we have others that now should improve.

I just hope we keep adding to the squad in Jan. Yes, I know I am demanding but don't forget that we brought in €6m for Aquilani as well.

That means sales (mereiles and aquilani) is pretty much on aggregate as much as adam (6.5m) and henderson (£16m) cost. (About £21m in sales).

FSG's net outlay has been Coates 8m, 1,5m on the combined deal mentioned above, and about 5m on the Torres/suarez/carroll deal, about £20m on downing and £6m on Enrique ordeal.

The way people have gone on in the news one would think we have spent a lot more money than just over £41m net.

Kenny have sold smartly and gotten rid of a lot of wages by off loading expensive signings that are not good enough for top 4. Poulsen, kyriakos, degen and cole despite great expectation falls into that category as well.

Kyriakos stepped up and played some great games when needed but deep down I think all us fans knew that ones the resources were there he was going to be on his way.

Aquilani and maybe also Cole was never given a fair crack at it at Anfield, but when they did get to play (which wasn't all that often) both failed to impress.

The way people have gone on about our transfer spending one would think we had Man City's money but it is not the case.

Let's go hunt titles! Wud be nice with a cup win this year.
