New manager and Kenny verdict.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/may/16/andre-villas-boas-liverpool-kenny-dalglish

Feel sorry for Kenny but I do not like sacking someone without having a better candidate lined up. We are in danger of making the manager position a revolving door. I know it is because we haven't had the success that clubs like Liverpool should expect but lets be realistic as well. The club was down in the dumps. We sold maybe our best player in Fernando Torres last year and Gerrard the only one that could compete is getting older and is not performing the way he used to (apart from the one game vs. Everton).

Suarez has been great but there is a lot of petulance that should have been removed from his performances if Kenny was a better man manager. I understand there may be a language issue there but then have Aurelio or Maxi have a chat with the fella.

In addition I never understood why Kenny insisted on playing Henderson on the right. I just simply think he is a better central midfielder. The fact that Spearing got so much playing time this season as well (despite being a local lad) is just a disgrace when we have people like Jonjo shelvey, Henderson and Gerrard that can all fill that role (DM) with proper instructions.

Other than that I will say this about Kenny and his reign. He has tried his hardest and he has got us playing nice football in the majority of the games. He has just lacked goals despite creating more than enough chances. Dealing with some obvious issues on the wing backs has also been to his detriment. Johnson, although he has improved continues to be suspect defensively. If not he would be a shoe-in for the England first 11 ahead of Kyle Walker, Micah Richards and perhaps Phil Jones. The same is true for Enrique. He looked promising at the start of the season, and especially going forward he was great but he like so many in our squad ended up putting in disappointing performances towards the end.

The players that I am happy with this year and played close to potential include Skertel, Lucas, Suarez, Maxi, Agger and perhaps Bellamy. Jonjo and Martin Kelly did well also but didnt get enough playing time to prove themselves.

The rest I think just did not play as well as they could have. Carroll came along at the end and also should have got more playing time but due to the start of the season I cant commend him.

Another thing I never understood is that Maxi didnt get more playing time when we were lacking goals. He seemed to link up fantastically with Suarez and always arrive in the box at the right time.

Now it looks like he has played his last game for us.

Lets hope for a better season next year.

AVB or Rafa would be my first choices for new manager. Would be great if they came with Tevez as well as it would give them a boost from the get go. He is good enough that I would put up with his personality and arrogance. He would make the team better and provide much needed flair.

Bellamy and Spearing will need to be replaced. Other than that our team is not that weak. Perhaps a good left back to give Enrique competition and a right winger ( have talked about Matt Phillips, scott Sinclair at length). Others available on a 1 year deal or relegated are Moses, Hoilett and Yakubu.

YNWA,
Stian
