Very interesting article about the transfer window and goings on behind the scenes. Not sure about you guys but to me although revealing I would say this just raises more questions with regards to specifics in transfer deals.
The author highlights how many untrue statements, leaks and unofficial confirmations that are out there for different purposes depending on circumstances.
It is a myriad of rumours, stakeholders and situations to take into to account and when deals go sideways or get leaked to the media what decided how the deal ended up could be down to personalities, a small detail or the agent/advisor turning the players head.
So many contingencies and so little sense to make of it all. It continues to fascinate me and just like with all the facets of the game there are numerous facets of a transfer window.
I think it incredibly hard to get a deal done now that info can be shared so quickly and if it is an attractive target you can get up to date on the player quickly due to the RESEARCH segement mention in the above mentioned article.
With today's landscape it is worth hiring technical directors that are experts at these things to do your transfer dealings.
The time where managers do most of the work themselves and stay informed are over. The more info you get the better it is it seems. The paragraph talking about consultants also impressed me; that people go for that and dig that deep into your character before they make a decision.
I knew some asked questions about that but that they would go that far impresses me. More and more details are available and no stone is left unturned. Big brother? Morally correct? How long before we see this elsewhere in life before you are hired or is it already happening behind the scenes?
Big game in a few hours and I am looking forward to it.
