Utter frustration!!!

After the game I am left with utter frustration. Not only cause Bellamy didn't start but because I did not think Kenny gave the boys to give it a proper crack.
I have said it before, we have not got a proper right winger other than perhaps Glen Johnson in the team, and just to clarify by a proper winger I mean a man who can go past a man and whip in a proper cross with both feet. Glen Johnson has those qualities and today on that one corner he showed once again why he shouldn't play defence (Toure header wasn't even contested - really poor defensive effort by Glen Johnson there).

I also think a proper winger should possess pace and a willingness to hug the line at least when we win possession. In Henderson or Kuyt we do not have that at all.

Yes they are good defensively but that is only good enough to play certain positions in our team.

Why Henderson gets used as a winger baffles me. Carroll has played well in two games now but he can not play with another slow player. We need someone to run is into space behind the defence. Unfortunately we didn't have that today. For the first time in a while Kolo Toure started and most people know Lescott has started more games recently because he possesses more pace. Now that he has got his confidence back I also think he is a much better player than Kolo toure but we had no one that could expose that on the field today.

Maxi is never going to beat a man down the line and hit a cross, henderson likewise and kuyt as well (dropped at times in the first half to form a 4 5 1.

We also lack quality in central midfield when Lucas is lacking. All of a sudden Man City need only cover one man properly in the centre of the park and then they need not worry about through balls or releasing passes from Spearing. If it happens it is the exeption.

Should we get Mascherano or Alonso back in that position I would sign a midfielder but if we cant than I say no. It should be a world class midfielder. Credit to spearing, he has improved a lot but I thought he had a poor game.

Downing again shows potential but fails to take the chance of beating men when being chased by a second guy. That is simply down to confidence and the same can be said for the huge chance he had to put us up 1-0. A year ago for Villa he would have sent wee dink over the keeper there but instead he tries to place it in the most obvious of spots.

Time will tell if he can make the grade but he needs a bit of luck or a couple of goals to really get his confidence going.

Going to bed disapointed after leaving the pub at halftime today.

I think we need a few more players. At first I thought a striker would put us in good stead for the season but I am back to thinking we are still 3 players short of anything worthwhile...

Torres, Alonso and Samba would put us in a position to challenge for the title I think... if he starts using Johnson more at right mid/right wing and Kuyt only sparingly.

Reina also let us/himself down on the first goal today. Has to be mentioned although he has had a great season so far.
