I think he deserves it on the back of his performances last season and the game yesterday.
Having said that, for LFC I do not know if would suit him with the extra pressure at this point. Would be good to get him establised in the squad.
Consindering our strenght in depth in that position at the moment (right back) could we not use Glen Johnson further up the field?
We have needed wingers in that right midfield for a long time. We finally have a decent left winger in Stewart downing. Why not employ Glen Johnson in that position when we have got Kelly that is a better defender and can also offer something going forward.
The fact that Capello has already recognized that he might be an England interantional in the future shows what a massive talent he is. Considering how well Micha Richards are playing at the moment and people like Kyle Walker are coming through the ranks at Tottenham and had a great season at Villa last year I think Kelly has done well to put himself in the discussion.
It has been well documented that Glen johnson offensive game is by far his stronger. He has got pase, can go past a man and can cut inside on his left. He played there for Pompey a couple of seasons back with huge success so why not try it considering Henderson is not an out and out wingerand kuyt seems to be preferred as an option up front or in that AM position right behind the striker at the moment.
Would love to hear thoughts from the Liverpool faithful...
