You look at this game in the first half and you have got to be disapointed with the defending. Saying that the way we came back, gained momentum and the way our skipper took the game by the scruff of the neck and fought back with 2 goals.
When we went to 2-2 I thought we were going to go on to win the game. That did not happen for the following reasons in my opinion;
- Keane did not play
- Kuyt does not look like scoring and was left alone and without enough support up top.
- We do not committ enough people forward to have a fair chance of being likely to score when we work the ball into the final third...
- Subsitutions were made too late.
- Substitutions that were made where as we have seen before - like for like... El Zhar for Riera (quite possibly our most creative player in the second half), Keane did not come on... We need to play with more than one up top at home against Hull *a newly promoted team*
Why not have a go? so what if we lose one of them for taking the extra risk. Chances are we are going to win one as well and ultimately that yields more points in the end.
And again a player like Pennant in this second half I think would have created more on that right side than Benayoun and possibly also Kuyt can we he plays there....
anyways... we are still top although I do not think that is the case after Chelsea play their game tomorrow.
