Sad we lose out on world class player when they are available for this type of money. Especially when he could have replaced the goals we would lose if Suarez left.
With Mignolet in I think Reina is leaving for Barca as well despite what is being claimed by Reina and Rodgers. Therefore sadly if Suarez and Reina leaves I suspect we are weaker going into the next season and it will be another year of having to aim for 5th or 6th. Thinkn about it, why else would Mignolet leave and what does this do to Brad Jones' position in the club who by the way had a very decent season last year and has committed himself to the club.
Sad that this keeps happening.
Luis Alberto will take a few years to come to fruition as he is young. He is another one that could add a few goals. Our team is getting stronger.
Here is the mignolet transfer confirmation!
If Suarez is confirmed out of the Shankly gates I hope we line up Scott Sinclair as a potential replacement as he will have 15 goals in him. No world class but he would add to the squad and could play central striker and on the wings.
Sinclair, Coutinho, Sturridge then could potentially all grab 15 plus goals and with Sturridge being our starter centrally who should probably get over 20 if having a good season.
Then we have guys like Downing, Sterling who are more question marks but if they keep having a positive upswing in form(downing) and development (sterling) could potentially get close to 10 goals left. Other question marks are borini, allen, and if enrique/johnson can grab a few.
If we then get 5 from Gerrard, Henderson, Alberto and I am going to argue Shelvey could get that if he gets playing time.
Then we are starting to replace the goal tally from last season of about 70 something... and it is about closing up shop at the back. That would be key to success and Skertel, Agger, Toure and Coates all need to have better seasons.
In conclusion, loosing world class players in Suarez and Reina (arguably of that ilk) does not move us closer to the top (into top4 in the EPL). It is disapointing as it is looking more and more like that is what is about to happen and then it will take another 2 years before our young guys are able to compete for CL places.
I guess we are in wait and see mode!
